MakeSubtitles ("this site") respects your privacy. This policy explains what information the site handles, where it goes, and what you can control.

1. Personal information we collect

This site has no sign-up and does not collect personally identifying information such as names, email addresses, or phone numbers. It is a static website with no backend server and no database that could store your files or inputs.

2. How uploaded files are processed

• Video and audio files you select are never sent to our servers — they are processed entirely inside your browser.
• The audio separated from your video is sent to Groq, Inc. for speech recognition, using your own API key.
• Extracted or uploaded subtitle text is sent to Anthropic, PBC for translation, using your own API key.

3. Local storage

For convenience, the following is stored in your browser's localStorage and never leaves your device:

• The API keys you enter (Groq, Anthropic)
• Tool settings such as languages and model, tone instructions, and glossary

Clearing site data in your browser removes all of it. We recommend doing so after using a shared computer.

4. Cookies and advertising

This site may display ads through Google AdSense. Regarding advertising:

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it to serve personalized ads. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings.

5. Access logs and analytics

This site currently uses no separate visitor-analytics tool. The hosting platform (e.g. Cloudflare Pages) may automatically collect access logs (IP address, access time) for its own operations, governed by its policies. If we adopt an analytics tool later, this policy will be updated.

6. Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect children's personal information.

7. Changes to this policy

Changes will be announced on this page along with an updated effective date.
